CEEI HAS PROVIDED A LIST of states that actually are reporting environmental stream status as well as climate and eco system problems at {www.apsrs.org) The US states environment as reported in the press has made ( in some circles) "the environment" a bad word. It refers to policy, laws enforced or broken, and serves the press equally as well. Most environmental law is just that. Their are 20 laws that use this term , when many of them are referring to eco systems !
In Europe Eco system reporting seem to be more common.( by using the word "ecosystem") In The US, the word “environment” seem to be used more by NGO’s, non profits, and the news media.
Students are encouraged to use either, Eco system is what a large area requires to sustain itself. Environment is more a general term that includes the climate.
Some of the CEEI categories serve both climate and streams, species etc and can be expected to be a common term. CEEI is building 40 more enviro-climate web sites. because some of the terms have become interchangeable and many of the CEEI/Google terms actually serve the climate and the ecosystem as well. In fact many new climate terms are impacting the planet, and are new ! The CGCSAS system describes the use of a MIS system dealing with eco environment and now climate terms. if you are confused dont be.

CEEI would like to see all countries develop their own MIS systems based on the CGCSAS system that CEEI has developed using their own languages and naming their own provinces and schools etc.CEEI has the experience and is available. Proposals have been sent to the UK and Kenya and now the new Obama people.
